The three partner schools in MLP are celebrating GCSE successes for students this week. In the first year of the new, more challenging GCSEs in English and Mathematics, what is now known as the ‘basics’ measure, the percentage of students gaining Grade 4 or higher in both English and Mathematics provides the key statistic for schools. MLP schools have all achieved well in relation to student starting points, with the basics measure for the schools as follows:
St Edmund’s Girls’ School 75%
The Trafalgar School 71%
Wyvern College 50%
There were outstanding achievements from individual students in each school. The top performers were Neve Durston-Hiillyer from Trafalgar and Sophia Jaffer from St Edmund’s, both of whom achieved a string of A* grades together with Grade 9s in English and Maths, the grade 9s being reserved for the top 2-3% of grades awarded nationally in those subjects. Also achieving eight or more A and A* or equivalent grades were Charles Fernando, Sophie Auras, Vincent Nolan and Maia Gyepi-Garbrah from Trafalgar, Yasmin Williams, Amelia Capitelli, Connie McTeare, Karolina Vakulya, India Brown and Ellie Thompson from St Edmund’s and Bradley Hill and Sam Oxley from Wyvern.
Congratulations to all our students; we wish them all well as they move on to the next stage of their education.
