After almost two years of planning and preparation, Magna Learning Partnership opened as a Multi Academy Trust today. Formed by three 11-16 secondary schools in Salisbury and the surrounding area, the Trust has been approved by the regional schools commissioner as a sponsor and opens with around 1700 students educated in either St Edmund’s Girls’ School, the Trafalgar School or Wyvern College.
The vision of the partnership is to improve the quality of education for children and young people in Salisbury and the surrounding area. Recent research demonstrates that high levels of collaboration between schools leads to improved outcomes for young people.
Executive Headteacher Sarah Busby commented: “In Magna Learning Partnership we have the coming together of three already good secondary schools, each with strong leadership and a clear vision for further improvement. We are looking forward to providing new opportunities for students, for staff and for the communities we serve through the formation of Magna Learning Partnership.”
Whilst it will be ‘business as usual’ for each of the three schools and outwardly, there will be no major changes, the schools are aiming to achieve efficiencies in areas such as insurance and other services which they hope in time will provide more money to spend directly on young people’s education.
‘Excellence together’ become the watchwords for success in this new Multi Academy Trust.
